Paola Bermudez

English-speaking teacher in the 6-12 classroom, Spanish teacher

In Mozaika I can share my love for languages and encourage the children to have a positive attitude towards foreign languages. Mozaika is a place where you can nurture the development of the child in a respectful and supportive way. Language learning can happen naturally in these conditions.

Paola Bermudez loves languages and she almost pursued studies to become an interpreter/translator, but in the end she decided to study the degree for Primary Education (for children aged 6-12), choosing to specialize in teaching English. She worked for 3 years at a bilingual English-Spanish traditional school in Spain, where she is originally from. She learned about the Montessori pedagogy while participating in an innovation project being carried out at that school. She fell in love with the Montessori pedagogy then, but for a long time she couldn’t find any possible way of doing any kind of Montessori training.

She moved to Canada and spent two years there teaching in another English-Spanish bilingual traditional school. Both years she was placed in charge of a group of 1 graders, to whom she taught all the main subjects in both English and Spanish.

In 2019, she came to the Czech Republic to study the AMI 6-12 diploma course in the Montessori Institute of Prague, while joining Mozaika as the English-speaking teacher in the 6-12 classroom.

She’s currently participating in a series of lectures and workshops about how to help the children develop bilingualism in a Montessori classroom.
